The Tennessee State men’s basketball team dominated Campbellsville-Harrodsburg, 108-66, in the final non-conference game.
FIRST HALF: TSU jumpstarted the contest with a 10-0 run as Emmanuel Dowuona logged the first six points of the game. Jalen Dupree tallied consecutive baskets to extend the advantage to double-digits. After the Pioneers responded with a handful of points, the Tigers registered 13 unanswered points to enlarge the lead to 19. 11 players appeared in the first half for TSU as eight players recorded a basket in the opening stanza. Tennessee State out-rebounded CU-Harrodsburg by a wide margin, 27-10. The Tigers went 19-for-36 (52.8%) from the field in the first 20 minutes of action. TSU owned the paint with 36 points coming down low. Three players totaled double-digit points: Dupree, Dowuona and Shakem Johnson. || TSU, 49-29
SECOND HALF: Campbellsville-Harrodsburg opened the half with a jumper from their leading scorer, Chris Rawlins. Marcus Fitzgerald Jr.responded with a three-pointer to push the lead to 21. In the middle of the half, the Tigers went on a 9-2 run to keep a firm grasp of the lead. At the 9:13 mark, Dupree earned his first double-double of the year. Carlos Marshall Jr. rattled off 21 points in the final seven minutes for a career-high 26 in total. || TSU, 108-66
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Carlos Marshall Jr. recorded a career-high 26 points on 8-of-14 from the field, including a season-high 5-of-11 from deep.
- Jalen Dupree registered his first double-double at TSU as the Samford transfer posted 13 points and 13 rebounds.
- Shakem Johnson went a perfect 8-for-8 from the field, as he totaled a season-high 16 points.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- The Tigers reached the century mark for the second time this year.
- All 11 TSU players scored at least 3 points, while five players registered double-digit points.
